'Be kind and compassionate to one another.' Ephesians 4:32

Sacramental Program

At Our Lady of Compassion, our Year 4 children are privileged to continue their journey of faith by preparing for and celebrating two important Sacraments: Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Throughout the year, the children work closely with their teachers, parish priest, catechists and families to deepen their understanding of God's love, forgiveness and the gift of the Eucharist. Preparation is centred on prayer, Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church, helping the children to appreciate the significance of these special milestones in their faith journey.

Reconciliation

The children first celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where they encounter God's mercy and forgiveness in a personal and meaningful way. This is a joyful occasion, encouraging them to reflect on their actions, seek forgiveness and experience the peace that comes from being reconciled with God.

First Holy Communion

Later in the year, the children celebrate their First Holy Communion, one of the most memorable moments of their primary school journey. During this beautiful and reverent Mass, they receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time, surrounded by their families, friends, parish community and school. It is a celebration filled with joy, prayer and thanksgiving, marking an important step in their lifelong relationship with Christ.
